Hi John,
I knew it was on B.7 but saw the line where it said works whatever pin the LED is on and thought there was some pretty neat programming.
The strange thing is there was some activity on the LED which seemed to change if I held the board.

Perhaps RB7 is set as an input, i.e. floating, so holding the board or crosstalk from other lines might happen to turn on the LED driver?

Did you have the jumper in? if not the input to the OPA floats and the led is in a bit of limbo jingo

John Lawton

Actually the jumper links the LED to the Op-Amp output. The Op-Amp input is permanently connected to RB7 but that can be high-impedance.

Hi,
I have found what the problem is but not why. It happened when i touched the ICSP pins so I got a bit of wire.
If I touch B.6 (PGC) it is very dim and hardly visible. If I touch B.7 (PGD) it is on fully and this is with me isolated from the board (and anything else) apart from touching the pin?

Bob

That will be because the pin was hiZ when set to my dev board, so any charge on you will force the OPA to change.

Hi Jon,
I do not need it yet but I wondered if for example the 18F25(26)K22 would be the same for the 18F45(46)K22 apart from changing the device and possibly the config settings as they have the same memory etc.

I am not sure if you did the 18F258/2580 for the old bootloader as it changed before I had time to look. If so will you be uploading those. No rush but thought I would ask.

I am finding the bootloader a great help with programming as it is a lot less messing around to program the devices when modifying programs now.

Bob

Hi Bob

I have the 18F45K22 build, and it is different. I'll upload it and the newer 1.5 GUI with the default folder setup added.
I need to upload around 100+ this week

Glad it's helping; thanks for the feedback.  I have built a platform for Gowin FPGA that programs the device rather than using the awful Gowin programmer.  Took a couple of weeks to write it, but it's similar to the bootloader and can flash the part in 2 seconds; it saves hours of work.

Hi Jon,
May be more of a question for John Lawton.
I am using the Amicus8 board and it works fine, the bootloader asks for a reset of the board though.
Should I have a jumper on LK2, the wording is a bit confusing as it says Bootloader Reset Enable? which sort of contradicts itself.

Thanks for adding the default folder, it makes life a lot easier for me.

Regards,
Bob

John Lawton

Hi Bob,

I'm not sure why it's confusing :)
LK2 the Bootloader Reset Enable link enables resetting of the PIC by the bootloader, (using /DTR). The schematic shows that /RTS and /CTS lines are also made available on J4, but you'd have to add your own wire links to use those instead. If you omit the LK2 handbag, then the PIC cannot be reset by /DTR.

It's shown here: https://easy-driver.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Amicus-8-Schematic.pdf

Hi John,
The Reset & Enable confused me, I think I would have just had Enable but that is just me. It probably comes from something I had at work where the jumper either reset or locked the device which is why I thought that.

Bob

The Amicus definitely works with the DTR reset on the Bootloader Gui.
