As the title states: "How are your tree ferns coping Tim"?

TimB has lots of beautiful tree ferns and other sub-tropical plants in his lovely garden, so I am curious how they are getting on with the heat and the hosepipe ban. The ban is driving me potty with the standard plants we have in the garden, and it takes quite a while to water them with a can, so it must be a right bugger for you Tim. :-)

Hi Les

I'm using an irrigation system that feeds just the tree ferns. The last fern I purchased was a lot of ££££ so I cannot rely on me getting out there to water them by hand.

My understanding is irrigation systems are not subject to the ban if pressure regulated and on a timer. I have both and I only water 4 ferns and they are on for about 10 mins a day.

I can imagine they were expensive from the pictures of them you have sent me in the past, and seeing them in garden centres. So they need your care.

You are so logical Tim. I have often thought of creating an irrigation system for our tomatoes and cucumbers and peppers etc, but have never gotten around to it. :-) Maybe this time next year, as Del-Boy often said. ;-)

I have not watered my tomatoes in the greenhouse for years! They are watered by a  18F26K22.
I use a few old water inlet valves from discarded washing machines relay switched from mains and mains water.
