i need value of d12 ?
i am sure some others components can  be also damage!!
i will check
I need high resolution photos of yours pickit 4 board.
can anyone help me about it?

I am the one who wrote it there too! :)
I started searching for other pickit 4 owners.
  who can open their pickit 4 and send me a photo in the hope that I will get a solution as fast as possible.

I've just opened the PICkit4 and the D12 diode's markings are:

DW

Sorry, I don't have a camera that will take macro photos.

I've just noticed, the PICkit4 uses an Atmel Arm type microcontroller inside it! But it was designed and released before Microchip actually bought Atmel???? That tells you something in itself about the quality of the PIC32 devices doesn't it? Because they are also 32-bit processors, but are based upon the, very outdated, MIPS architecture.

The MIPS architecture must have been the only architecture Microchip could buy up at that time, from a company that was struggling, because they are no longer a design company themselves, which is why they bought Atmel. :-(

thank you Les,
You are always in the first place to help.

As far as I can see, they serve the goal of providing result-oriented, fast and quality service.

In this, they gain momentum by purchasing ready-made qualities.

Otherwise, it makes sense to buy the processes that require training process resource support and many other such serious infrastructure with money.
I think!.

why do i think so;

I understand that Microchip pays more attention to training right now.
microchip university infrastructure and
microchip developer infrastructure looks very successful

The point is that it does not only cover pictorials, there are lessons and tutorials for Atmels as well.
and they have prepared serious education pages such as linux applications such as harrmony, Ensemble Graphics Toolkit (Free, Open-Source Linux® GUI Toolkit Optimized for Microchip Microprocessors) that also support pic 32 series.

I even asked you before, will the new compiler support pic 32? ::)

To be honest I should prefer pic32 instead of atmel (if I can get to the level of being able to program for the MCUs in this series someday)
(due to the learning process to be spent;).

  But if you add something to the positron family for the atmel mcu ... ideas may change with you to start using the atmels ...
... (of course, this will require a separate learning process, but those with positron infrastructure do not waste much time and do not have much difficulty, I guess)

Especially if your manuals and sample codes are too many and easy to understand, it will be perfect.

They always offer fast and high quality products / solutions to their users and they do not leave the issue of developing new technologies as an idea, they develop it personally.

their customers don't care too much about how they do this.

In my opinion, what customers are interested in is their trustworthiness, after-sales support.

In fact, you are a manufacturer with the same quality and mentality, you are always behind the product and you provide 24/7 support, which gives us confidence (I have to admit I was seriously worried when I saw the old site shut down).

but when I look today, positron is the only compiler that will / will support q series pic mcu.

okmn

marking DW  can be;
BZT52H-B13 or BZT52H-B13 zener diode

BZT52H-B13....12.7 13.3 v zener (this is very likely to happen, logically)

BZT52H-B13....66.6 69.4v zener At that point, it doesn't make much sense to use a Zener with such a high voltage! (If it is on board, it is necessary to measure it with an osliascope)

I will find another zener with this sensitivity and try it .. I hope no other component is broken.

I think they did it to try and avoid paying ARM licensing fees, and to not be another "ARM me too"... they wanted something different.

Likely that's also how they ended up with MPLABX being based on netbeans instead of everyone else's eclipse-based IDE.

Swordfish has support for the entire 18F family, including all Q series devices.

It's only for the PIC18F though.

what I knew about Swordfish was completely wrong.
After finding the proton, I didn't look at any other compiler deep because.

it's stuck in my head! like hell...

Swordfish;
no pic10 series
no pic12 series
no pic16 series
no pic24 series
no dspic series    but only for pic18 serie £120.00

I don't need to write mikrobasic anyway here !!(you have to buy all of them separately with high prices)

positron;
all in one and just £39.99
folks, run and buy it right now!!!
even support latest PIC18FXXQ series and DSPIC series

dear Les ;
We cannot thank you enough.
even the words "thank you" to you are very meaningless if we see the benefits your product provides to your customers.

there is an huge injustice;
This is definitely not the selling price that the positron deserves !!!
personally, I'm offended ...I'm so sorry!

 I have a little conscience happy because I bought the version without the USB dongle again While I have a USB dongle version.
 and I'm waiting for the newest positron and its board to buy.

I think I mentioned that it's 18F only, but the £120 price... ouch! it's gone up since last I looked.

It's missing support for a number of the Q series parts (Q40, Q41, Q83, Q84), but for the money I have to agree it's easily a better deal!

okmn

the support for q series and a few new dspic will begin with positron named

Microchip SAR Administrator replied to my email and informed that a new one would be sent within 24 hours.
and they want my damaged pickit 4 return to them  for future analysis.

Hello everyone
Thank you for the pictures and information.  I have been using the pickit4 for about a year and so far have had no problems.  My fingers are crossed...  It does seem to get a glitch every now and then maybe 1 out of 20 times where writing to the pic will fail - but it's probably me...  I have been looking for a schematic / parts list as smt parts don't have enough room for complete numbers...
If I do find a schematic and or parts list it will be posted here asap...
Regards  Hal

You have to understand why that diode is blown.
After what circumstance?
try to reverse around the diode to see if other components have gone with it
Could the diode have a protection function?

it is possible not try to repair.

DON'T KNOW IF THIS WILL BE HELPFUL:
MPLAB Snap Debugger/Programmer

SEE:  https://www.kanda.com/products/Microchip/MPLAB-SNAP.html#desc

ABOUT 1/3 THE COST OF PICKIT4.
user interface of MPLAB X Integrated Development Environment (IDE), version 5.05 and later.
MAY BE WORTH HAVING AS A SPARE.

I HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM MC REGARDING A PARTS LIST FOR PK4..

tumbleweed

QuoteI HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM MC REGARDING A PARTS LIST FOR PK4.
If you do, please let us know. As far as I know they haven't published schematics for the PK4.

The main problem with the SNAP is that it's LVP only, so if you've ever programmed a part with LVP OFF the SNAP can't reprogram it.

okmn

guys,
MC sent new pickit 4 , it arrived to me today is on my office table now.
thanks MC.

i can make tecnical mesuring compare now,
 i can hope repair now, and can repiar hope it.
