Welding a K type thermocouple

Is anyone has attempted and successfully welded a K type thermocouple?

Hi Yes I have

I did use a cable welding machine. i.e a big cap that dumped the voltage/current through the 2 wires. A tig welder would also work.

I have used a capacitor discharge spot welder. Back in the 1970's I repaired the electronics for company that operated packaging machines; the fitters used to braze thermocouple wires directly to bearing mountings, heating elements, machine parts and whatever needed temperature control or monitoring. I have no idea how accuracy was affected. All the thermocouple amplifiers were galvanically isolated from the rest of the circuitry.

I used a DIY spot welder from a Microwave oven transformer to weld platinum to titanium couple of years ago, it works pretty well. Here's my project:
