QuoteYet I receive items from China with no costs at all! So much for the "good relations" nonsense from politicians. :-)

I cannot send my sister christmas presents in Majorca as the sulking EU are charging customs on any value at all where it is supposed to be over around £39 (or the euro equivalent). Looks like we will have a Christmas in April when I venture out there.

In the states we have the equivalent of the EU, it's called organized crime (aka gangsta's)
Maybe if y'all took Harry and Megan back things would run more smoothly.   ;)

Don't get me started, I don't want to get banned from the forum, you're welcome to them >:(

I wonder if this thread caused RS to be sold out (POST 2), looks like I got in just in time.

Quote from: top204 on Jan 09, 2023, 01:01 PMEven gifts that arrive from the USA with "no cost" on the enveloped are charged handling and taxes when they arrive at our door!!! I found that out the hard way, and had to pay £20 for a gift from Lee of some APA102 RGBW LEDs a few years ago.

Les, it is all over EU that you have to pay, not only on gifts, but even on items you already paid customs duty and VAT.

A friend of mine bought this plywood R/C airplane short kit, outside EU, for a EUR700. He knew that he must pay customs duty and VAT, and that was alright with him.

It happened that there was two, 45cm x 2cm wood missing. The supplier after a couple of days asked my friend if everything is ok with the kit, and my friend said "Yes, there was only these two parts missing!". Supplier sent these two pieces of wood for free, and customs said, "We need receipt for this" He told them, "No, they where missing from a kit and he sent them over for free, I can show you I paid full customs duty and VAT of the kit and I have nothing more to pay." He also showed correspondence and customs still charged him EUR7.00.

He told them that this is very unfair. He asked the customs, which happened to be a lady, "If you bought a pair of shoes, and in the box there is one missing, will you accept to pay this rip off?" He never received an answer.

This EU thing is coming a JOKE everyday it pass.

No thank you Gary, we have enough parasites in this country, and whinging, spoiled parasites are definately not welcome, because we have far too many of them already. :-) However, it seems that the bigger a selfish arsehole a person is, or the better a lier a person is in our current civilisation, the richer the person gets and they are actually admired for it!!!
