Dissappointed with ESP module

Purchased a cheap NodeMCU which contained a non -Ai Thinker ESP8266 module supposedly equivalent to ESP12E.
Worked for one day & the suddenly the reset pin to ground impedence shot down to 80 ohms.
The processor was in permanant reset state & I couldn't get it to work again.
Shall order some genuine samples now from websites with good credentials.
Hope no one has faced such issues with ESP modules.
