Hi,
I am unable to open Positron8/16 user manuals from Studio V 2.0.2.4 using the links on the welcome screen or via the help drop down. I have checked and both manuals are at "C:\Program Files (x86)\ProtonIDE\PDS\Docs\0 - Positron16 manual.pdf" .
Is this the correct location for Studio to find them ?

That is where they are in my installation but I do not have the latest compiler version and so my manual file names are still...
1 - Proton Compiler Manual and
1 - Proton24 Complier Manual

Just a guess as I am not using yet up to date with the latest compiler or IDE versions but perhaps the IDE is still looking for the old file names, try copying and renaming them to see if that solves the problem and double check the compiler path is correct in the options settings as I would think that at some point the compiler installation directory would change from Proton IDE to something else (Positron?).

Hi,
My system works properly.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies. If I copy the manuals to "C:\Program Files\Positron Studio\0 - Positron8 manual.pdf"
"C:\Program Files\Positron Studio\0 - Positron16 manual.pdf" I can view them from the help tab but NOT via the welcome screen.

Gentlemen

Would it make sense to put a pdf of the manuals (or a link) under the files tab on the forum?

After I found the forum (as a newcomer), this is the first place where I looked.
Seemed logical. The manual set could be considered as the largest Proton Support File.
Just a thought based on my own search effort.

I have corrected the manual links in the next version of Positron Studio.

Hal, your idea for a link is a good one. It will be a link to Les's Google drive because he updates them regularly on his site. From my own experiences it's easy to forget to update copies in two or more places.

There are links to Les's site on the forum. For example the link to supported PICs goes to his site. Maybe not obvious to a newcomer.

I'll have a think about the best way to do it.

I hope that it won't point to a different version from the installed program.

It will point to Les's site so will be whatever Les has put there.

Latest version of Studio will display updated manuals from Welcome Page as well as Help

Just tried it in 2.0.2.5 no problem.

Could I suggest changing the default from 62% to 100% width when opening the help filess, or would that upset the view on other systems?

John Drew

I've changed the name of the item in the Home Page re supported PICs to include the manuals. This should make it easier to find the manuals for newcomers. It remains as a link to Les's site so that it is always up to date.

Thanks John

I spent quite a while looking for a manual back earlier in the year.
Now I have a couple of icons.  But it's always great to have a backup!

I hate to break with an old technical maxim of finding & reading the manual only after all other methods of investigation have been exhausted, but in the case of a compiler It is definitely required reading.  And this manual is just super.  Comprehensive doesn't begin to cover it.

Best regards!
