Variable/System Reference for "Version Information"?

I noticed a "Version Information" that auto-increments with each compile. It would be convenient for me to incorporate that into my internal version number so I don't have to update it with each released version manually. Is there any system variable or declaration that can embed that number into the program at compile time?
