Connecting a headset via bluetooth without using USB

I'm building a gizmo and need to connect a bluetooth headset with built-in microphone. The headset is easy but the gizmo end is proving a challenge as I can't use a USB dongle and so I need access to audio input and output sockets.

I've found plenty of bluetooth transmitter/receiver devices but they are either a transmitter or a receiver... they can't do both at the same time.

Does anybody know of such a device that doesn't require USB ?

This can't be a unique thing surly... I'm hoping it's just me not searching for the right thing.

Joe

Just ran across this post. Clearly, the post is old, but, maybe better late than never?

It's not clear to me how you want the gizmo, Bluetooth headset, audio and Bluetooth work together. HC-05 Bluetooth serial transceivers (and similar) will allow you to connect two MCUs via Bluetooth. This will act as a wireless serial data bridge without need for USB. I've never used one but there's lots of examples on the web and they're cheap.
