Our minds were formed by a time that required critical thinking and intellectual resistance. That time is passing.

Now, the challenge is the quiet shaping of new generations into passive followers, conditioned to accept authority without question and to believe that every decision is made in their best interest.

I am very pessimistic about the current state of affairs. I believe we are returning to 1936. I mean either outright dictatorships or democracies that are essentially dictatorships underneath. Just look at the leaders of Russia, the US, China, some European countries (and I'm referring specifically to Spain), and I'm not even mentioning Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea, etc., where presidents disregard constitutional norms and muzzle the judiciary. This regression is very dangerous. In Europe, it led to war. Our children and grandchildren will have to be very vigilant about this drift.

The 2008 Pixar animated film WALL-E tells the unlikely story of a world (this one) that has become so polluted that the human race has had to abandon it and live on a giant spaceship (Musk?). The people live in a world totally controlled by a higher power (AI, Trump, Putin...?): they don't need to move around and spend all day scratching at their screens buying stuff. They are all massively overweight and their only skill is buying stuff online (Amazon?)

Life is getting frighteningly like that film.

Almost all with left governments, just like Brazil, that is going to similar way like Venezuela, but with 2 big powers at steers, a drunk president, and politicized judiciary. Wait and you will hear news about the Brazilian economy in the coming months, bad news.
