Finally!

I've had batches of the new Amicus development boards made.

The Amicus 16A is for the 16bit 28pin 24F and dsPIC33 etc. device ranges.

The Amicus 16B is for the different pinout dsPIC33CH and CK devices.

I've also resurrected the 8 bit Amicus 18 and it's become the Amicus 8.

Some PIC's, for instance the dsPIC33CK range, are not available in SDIP, so I've produced an adaptor module so that they can be used in these dev boards too.

There are also a number of 'get you going' accessories listed.

I've tried to keep the costs reasonable whilst still making a small profit. It was a lot of work to do, so I hope you like them.

Buy now for Christmas!

Hi John,
Great news just before xmas, I have a 16A on order.
I just thought, I use 24HJ128GP502, I think we did mention it when you were designing the board so hopefully it will be compatible.

Bob

Hi,
Just noticed the compatability link, all good.

Hi Bob,

thank you for your order.

Yes, I've tabled various 16A compatibility issues here: https://easy-driver.co.uk/16a-compatibility/

Compatibility may be around the ICSP link selection. The board offers three different pairs so I think you'll be unlucky to find a device that won't program.

The most issues are regarding the USB UART interface pins on some older PIC24F devices.

Currently, shipping options are't comprehensive. Please let me know if you aren't on the region list, there's a contact form on the support page.

Looks terrific John. Great job and reasonable price.
I don't need at present due to too many other projects but especially pleased to see the pic24 board.

Hi John,
I got it today thanks.
Looks very professional and can't wait to test it, got to find the time to tidy the desk first:-)
I really like the qwiic socket, makes life easier as I have several sensors.

Thanks Bob, let us know how you get on.

What's the difference - other than the Firewing board is cheaper?
Do you provide a PIC in your boards?

RGV250

Hi,
I had a couple of firewing boards and gave them away as they kept wiping out the bootloader.
This one has been designed for a vast selection of devices and has quite a few extras like the qwiic connector, icsp & I2C etc pins.
It has also been designed by a positron user and he asked for input from users.
I am using my phone so probably not doing it justice.

The Firewings are also out of stock and I'm not sure Mechanique are continuing those boards.

In contrast I have plenty of the Amicus boards in stock.

As Bob says the Amicus range are designed to take a great range of PIC parts so are very versatile. For that reason no PICs are supplied.

After adding postage and VAT to a Firewing 24 you get £32.34 so not so far off from the cost of my boards.

Thanks Chris,

just curious, do you have a particular PIC in mind for this board, the original Amicus 18 used an 18F25K20 but many later parts will work?

John

CPR

Hi John,

I've several 18F25K22 left over from a previous project so thought your board would be ideal for one of them. Also been eyeing up the DSPIC33EV board...

RGV250

Hi John,
I have just looked at the CK devices, 200mhz from an internal clock, I might just have to get a "B" board after christmas.

Bob

John Lawton

Microchip specify 100MIPS which isn't bad. The dsPIC33EP and EV are specc'd at 70MIPS but trastikata has run an EP part at 90MIPS.

Quick question John. Do you receive the boards with the headers already fitted from the pcb manufacturer, or do you fit them yourself?

RGV250

Hi,
All fitted exactly as the photo on the shop.

Hi John,
I wonder how accurate the internal clock is IE for CAN if I ever get round to it again.
Just a small suggestion for future, I wonder if it would be an idea to put tracks on the SSOP adaptor so you could add an external crystal/caps if need be.
Also on the adaptor, is there clearance or will it interfere with shields on top of it?

Regards,
Bob
