I've had an enquiry from someone who wants a quiz buttons and light system.
He says he would like this in the form of UK TV's University Challenge programme, e.g.

requiring a buzzer system that can isolate the person whose buzzer is pressed first, with some sort of visual light to identify them. Consequently, he requires two sets of four buzzers for each team.

I saw that Les posted a system here: https://sites.google.com/view/rosetta-tech/positron-compilers-experimenters-notebook/quiz-buttons-controller
but my enquirer will need a ready-made system as he is doing this for charity and has a minute budget which means I can spend very little time on it. Don't you love clients like that :)

Any ideas please, I hate to disappoint him?

The Quiz show circuit and build would only cost about £10 to £15 for all the bits and pieces. It could also be built on a piece of strip-board for him as a one-off, it is so simple.

I designed it and built it for my very good friend Richard on a piece of vero-board and SIL headers for soldering too. He then made some simple 3D printed boxes for it himself to carry the switches and the main unit.

Apparently, there is a requirement for quiz monitors now, because the decent commercial units are quite expensive, and hard to find, so Richard adviced me. :-) Yet, the circuit and code I posted could fill a set of quiz desks with multi-coloured lights and trigger an inexpensive MP3 sound generator, all from a single device costing approx £2.00, that also has room in it for a simple sound generator if required.

Yes, it would be cheap to build apart from my time :)

Thanks Yasin, that might work for the 'client'.
