Hi,
Why i can't program PIC18F47Q84 and PIC18F47K42 with a Pickit_3 ? it only works with a PICKit_2 with this software. Is PICKit_2 better than PICKit_3 for new microchip devices ?

Thanks.

That is a very specific question and while it is possible that someone here may know the answer I would think that such a question would be better addressed to the those behind the software directly as there could be any number of reasons as to why that may be the case, such as differences in hardware, firmware, missing correlating file for PICkit 3.

Hi jaka,
I'm using an original PICKit3 device, these recommendations do not apply to me.

Hi Gods,

Ok, genuine PICkit3 shouldn't be affected. At least I haven't seen that.

But you could still try? At least using smaller Vdd is easy to test. Or the modified device file.

The first device PIC18F47Q84 is not listed in PICKitPlus supported parts https://www.pickitplus.co.uk/Typesetter/index.php/Supported-Parts.

Suggest you contact PICKitPlus re. PIC18F47K42 which is in the list.

Have you tried low voltage programming mode?

A friend of mine lent me a PICKit2 (genuine) for a few days. the PICKit2_Plus software recognizes the PIC18F47Q84 ( and PIC18K47K42) when configured in "auto-detect on start" mode.
