Hi,
Totally unrelated to PIC's but I wondered if any of you use an alternative to Skype.
I only use it to talk to my sister but it has let us down so many times recently, it appears Microsoft want us all to go over to zoom until they are fed up with that and typical of Microsoft will screw that up like everything else they do.
I really do not want to go Whatsapp as I have heard it is so unsecure, Viber seems a good alternative but wondered if there are others.

Regards,
Bob

Hi Bob,
Are you sure it's the application and not bandwidth issues?
I started with Skype many years back before they became well known but I mainly use Google Chat, a Chrome extension that replaced Google Hangouts (although the latter still works).  This was only because I mainly converse with my son who doesn't use Windows and I needed a multiplatform application.
Probably the most common one is the voice and video feature of Facebook's Messenger.  If you use Facebook you already have it there but I'm a reluctant FB user.
There is also Meet Now which is like an embedded Skype (Microsoft) in later versions of Windows 10. Some people don't realize it's there.
Zoom?  Never used it but it's not done by Microsoft. I'm sure there are others - just don't collect the whole set because each friend wants you to use their choice to talk with you.

Cheers,
David

We use zoom and Wechat for long distances.  There are other paid services that are secure such as Webex etc
Look to see if your phone has wifi calling option as these can be really good, secure and reliable
