MPLAB X IDE - Beginners guide?

Hi,

there's some MCU functionality I'd like to test which is available in MPLAB and I decided it's time to learn the basics. However I don't know where to start from.

I've tried to Google it but there's so much garbage and inconsistent guides mostly related to C and nothing consistent about C for MCUs and MPLAB. 

Any advise on good books or online guides for beginners with MPLAB and C?

Click on the Projects tab on left side, I think that's what you want.

The xc8 compiler manual is pretty darn good, also.
