J have just downloaded Positron 4.01.10-1.1.0.5. All went well but when I click the desktop shortcut (world symbol) the old Proton loads.
I can see the new Pos8 and Pos16 in the folder PDS, which is in the folder ProtonIDE, which is in the folder Program Files (x86)

Can somebody put me right please.

It sounds like you are using the old IDE which will work with the new compiler version as long as it is set up to do so.

If you want to use the FineLine or ProtonStudio IDE's instead these will have to be  downloaded and installed separately.

Thanks. I don't use FineLine or ProtonStudio. I'll try it on my laptop.....

Sorted. Operator error. I was clicking the Help/About box on the IDE and it says "Compiler vsn 3.7.3.8 but if I look in the "Asm" of a compiled prog, the latest vsn is shown; both for the 8 and 16 bit versions.

The Positron compiler installer will create a new icon on the desktop named "Positron Compilers".

Windows7 onwards has a terrible mechanism of shadowing programs, so the icon will sometimes find the original "shadowed" program and run that instead of the new program.

I recommend making a copy of the original ProtonIDE folder, so it can still be used if required, then uninstalling the compiler before installing the Positron compilers. That way, windows has no other files to shadow or use.
