Hello all,

I see the newer PIC18F45K50 replacement for PIC18F4550 have the Active Clock Tuning module which can be used to self-tune the internal 16 MHz clock from the USB connection. This would mean that the internal oscillator can be used for USB connections which is great advantage not having to deal with crystals.

I was wondering if any of you had experience with the Active Clock Tuning module and USB connections - how reliable is it for USB communications?

Thank you

P.s. Now I see it would have been better if I had posted it in the technical bulletin, maybe the thread can be moved there?

I've been using it for a few years now, so it's on thousands of units and haven't had a single issue.

It seems to be very reliable, even over temperature.

Thank you for the confirmation, this will help me a lot in future designs.
