Hello Les,

I'm a little confused. Is Positron a continuation of Proton? I have a paid license for Proton and wondering if I can download the updates and continue with my paid version plus USB key or is it a new compiler altogether?

Regards,

Yves

I think Positron is a new compiler. From what has been written in the forum, the key licenses will disappear

Yves

Ok, so what one has to do to keep getting new updates and get on with the changes? Do we have to buy a new license or upgrade?

cheers,

Yves

Hi,
As I understand it Positron is a continuation of Proton but a name change to signify the break from Crownhill. 3.7.5.5? is the last version of Proton, you can upgrade to Positron for £25 but you keep the USB dongle or for £40 (eBay) which is the full version and dongle free (software licensed) so you can run it on any machine you own without worrying about the dongle.

Bob

Many thanks, and absolutely correct Bob. :-)

It is mainly a name change, but new devices have been added and some exrta features have been added to the compilers. The current versions of the Positron compilers will still use an existing USB key, if required. However, future upgrades will remove the USB key as registration. This makes the compilers international! and silly, and expensive, postage costs are not required, and no waiting for the items to arrive because it is a downloadable installer. :-) Also, as Bob stated, the software registered compilers can be installed in any machine that you use, without having to register with any web site, which seems to be common place now. But not in my world :-)

The software registration is a personal type, so the person who purchased the compilers will have an ID built into them, so they can be indentified immediately "when" a pirate version is released, and I can contact the appropriate authority with 100% proof of purchase by that person and registration info from the Ebay data. I keep absolutely no personal data for the person who bought the compilers, and no personal data is held within the compilers, just a name and ID of purchase date.
