This update is necessary for use with Positron Compilers.
It Fixes various issues and should be a lot faster when editing.

The above was the error. I gave administrator privileges to "PositronStudio.exe" file. The problem is over.
King regards.

John,

I don't know if you had time to work on this, but the problem with the falsely reported variables as unused, still persist.

Hello John. I have a problem with Positron studio latest version. I installed Positron version 4.0.0.0 then positron studio but when I try to enter the compiler path it does not accept it and tells me that the directory does not contain the compiler. What did I do wrong? My operating system is Win10 pro 64bit. Thanks in advance.

Did you download Positron Studio 2.0.2.4 because that should sort it out.
Check in Positron Studio Ini file in ProgramData\PositronStudio.
Look for Default compiler I would expect it to read 2 if you had previously been working with the old compiler.
If Default Compiler is 1 then it should already be set for 4.0.0.0, check the compiler path is correct.
alternatively, delete the compiler path entry and restart studio, it should find the right compiler.
If editing the Ini file make sure Positron Studio is closed before saving the ini file.

Hello John. I have downloaded positron studio 2.o.2.4 but the result it's a same. The path of compiler is in my case: C:\programx86\protonide\PDS. It's right path? Or not?

Thank you in advance

This is wrong

Actually
"C:\Program Files (x86)\ProtonIDE\PDS"
must be.

Great - did you just enter it wrong or did it come up like that?

Hi John

I am using W7 pro sp1 on a laptop.
Positron Studio version 2.0.1 build 8 is working great...

I downloaded Positron Studio version 2.0.2 bld4 today and it doesn't appear to be happy.
On start up it gives error:  Unable to find the Data base file

If I copy the file locations (the source path is identical) from version 2.0.1  it gives error: Argument out of range

any idea what data base file it needs to find?

many thanks

JohnB

It should be looking for database.mcd which will be in C:\Program Files\ProtonIDE or C:\Program Files (x86)\ProtonIDE.  As a W7 user I would expect it to be the former location.  I assume you have updated to the latest compiler version.

Take a look at the Positron Studio ini file.  C:\ProgramData\Positron Studio\PositronStudio.ini
Look for section [compiler]
Check path and database and adjust if necessary.
If you have the latest version of Positron Positron8 (4.0.0.0) the Default compiler value should be 1.

Same here,
Studio was working but not picking up the bit names.  A search of my PC showed them placed in several locations. I tried adding them to the search path in the INI file but that did not work so I uninstalled Studio, ran a clean up utility and removed all references to Studio.

I went to download the latest version again and the website is asking me to change my login details, as it did last week as well.  I cancelled that and logged in OK.

I downloaded and installed the latest version and got the errors mentioned above.  When it started up I got a message box about an argument being out of range.  Eventually I managed to load some previously used code but it took ages to appear and would not compile.  I went to change the compiler path in the options pane but it would not accept anything that i tried and instead of the mouse pointer I got the hourglass whenever the mouse is over the options pane.

I went to look for Studio ini and it isn't there.  I will start again and see what happens

The old IDE is working as it should.

It got worse.
I managed to get it running, it accepted the correct compiler path this time but when I added  the PicKit 2 programmer and tried to download some code the whole thing crashed.  Bullguard removed and quarantined Studio and Pickit 2.exe has gone as well.

Ah well, tomorrow's another day!

I have just done a completely fresh install and see the same issues.  I don't know what has gone wrong but I will sort it out as soon as I can.

Thanks John

I got a bit further this morning but there are still issues with finding the compiler and bit names so i will wait for your next update and I'll keep an eye on my emails

John,

After installing v2.0.2.5 I get those errors when opening Positron Studio.

First the error with the ini file, then the access violation and Positron Studio is hanging being able to close it only through the Task Manager.
