Hi Les

How can I call the asm to hex app or apps from an external program, I understand it might be parts of a toolchain.

And also what are you using for the asm to hex is it open source.

You could have a mpasmwin.exe dummy app to redirect it, to the new system so that the IDE - assembler View - Assemble button would point it to the correct location and pass the correct commandline/s.

Hi Les,

another related question:

- I saw Microchip made the XC compilers free and unrestricted to use, with all optimizations included. Is it possible Positron to be used with the latest compilers and their optimizations?

DaveS, sorry for jumping in your topic. To your question, I think Positron uses MPASM

No problem

I think Les would have to rewrite the Positron Compilers to use the latest XC compilers as they have changed the asm format again.

And to answer my own question
Microchip PIC24/dsPIC assembly by the XC16 toolchain
MPASM for all others
