RC5In and SonyIn

Positron8 provides commands for infrared standards RC5 (RC5In) and Sony (SonyIn).  Can anyone tell me if these are the standard infrared formats (among many used internationally) used in the UK and Europe for TV and entertainment electronics remote controls?

I use RC5IN regularly in various Positron programs and can indeed control all sorts of things wirelessly (via infrared) with a Philips remote control.

So now, 2026, it is already 22 years ago.
Please keep in mind that the .BAS programs are therefore severely outdated, and I myself did not have much experience with programming yet either
