Hello to all,

I have bought a new laptop that run win 11. I have successfully installed the pickit3 programmer latest version but I kept having a message saying "No Pickit Devise Found" I tried the Tool "Check Communication", same thing.
I tested on my other laptop that have win10 and it works perfectly.
Is anyone has experience it and what is the solution to this problem. Shall I install the bulky MPlab to make it work?
Please help.

Cheers,

Yves

Unfortunately even the latest version of the PicKIt3 software from Microchip is now very old and outdated and will not allow the programming of newer devices with the PicKit3 programmer, I don't think installing the MPLAB IDE will improve that.
I suggest you take a look at obtaining a copy of PicKitPlus (Even Venn is a member here) or others here are using PicKitMinus which are more up to date and likely to work under Win11 as well as including support for programming more devices that you would have using the Microchip software.
I have not done any PIC work for a while but I use PicKItPlus and do not recall any ussie using it with Win11

Hello Yves,

if you are using MPLABX, you should know they stopped support for PICkit3 after version 6.20 - so install MPLAB X 6.20 or earlier.

Yves

I tried that but MPLAB give me a message below:

Yes, but I did not understand what was the error message?

Yves

Checking with AI it means they block certain regions. I never had this problem with win10

First time I hear MC puts geographic limitations for MPLABX.

There is also a limitation for Russia.

I watched a video yesterday saying that Win11 is a huge disappointment and how many users are moving to Linux or Mac.

Many reasons, for one they want all your work (forced) on "the cloud" so they can steal if they want, no privacy, and only what they approve can be used on your PC.
A newer windows is supposed to be backward compatible, iow you had the option to run a program as if it was an older win version.

My Win11 updates are disabled, does it in any case.  One moment you're working and the next it restart.
They are apparently already ready to declare Win11 obsolete :o ready to roll out the next more abusive thing.
Win11 has a lot of flaws, I mentioned some previously elsewhere.

The good news is Linux ? is now providing to run Windows apps on it.  Something like that, I was doing two things at once (like a woman) and only heard every other word.

Since windows, google are intermingled, I have lost a lot of contacts off my phone when I removed the old phone's contacts.  This old phone sat here and was switched off, but it still used the contacts it had on it  ???
The wife's phone also lost her contacts because her phone is apparently also connected to the same google account, for some weird reason.  If I change a contact on my phone, it changes on her phone too.

Neurotic stupidity.

Well, I did some homework,

I have used VPN and connected to USA and voila I could open MPLAB pages and download any of their app. Unfortunately, soon i wanted to register or add some function apps I got "denied access". I live in Zimbabwe and I don't know why this country is on restricted access.

Not only Russia.  In the older times a search would offer millions of links on a topic.  Off late in the communist West (aka "democracy") you get only a few, and they all say the same twisted and blatant lies on a topic.

Hi Fanie, Is South Africa is also cut of from MPLAB?

I use PicKitPlus under W11 on a laptop and a desk PC without any problems, though I have not tried to use it with some of the newest devices.

PicKitMinus seems to get good reports so might be worth a try.

And you do not need MPLAB

I'm also a happy PicKit+ user. It simply solved all my programming problems. My PicKit "is still alive and kicking more than a decade after Microchip support ended.

I'm also very happy with Evan's PicKit2+
