This has probably been asked before on here but I coudn't find it in search...

Does anyone have a Sparkey dongle driver for Windows 10 please?

It appears the upgrade does not work with USB only compilers, but I did not have a USB key that worked until an hour ago and I fixed it! I couldn't test the upgrade for USB, so I asked a few people to test it and thet said it worked.... But it doesn't! It only works with software registered compilers.

Now that I have a working dongle key, I need windows 10 drivers wo I can go throught he compiler's loader code and get it working with a USB key or software registration, but until I can find and Windows 10 driver, signed or unsigned, I am stuck!!!

Sorry about that to the people who are having problems. I'll sort it out in an few hours. It will be sorted and I will always keep my promise that you will have a full working compiler... Even if I have to send you the full compiler installer with software registration. But for now, it will need an uninstall of teh upgrade and go back to the version 3.7.5.5 for USB key users.

I always new, and arguaed, that the USB key mechanism was a pain in teh backside and should not have been used in the first place.

I have removed the topic for the upgrade from the forum until the issue is corrected. It looks as though I'll be up most of the night. :-)

Hi,

I uninstalled your supplied latest version to get back to 3.7.5.5. Where can i find this 3.7.5.5 for download?

After uninstalling the compiler doesn't succeed compiling anymore. Saying: Unable to find coff-as.exe.
Anyone can share me a full download link please? My mistake i updated during a project for waiting customer:(

Thanks in advance

Giuseppe

Keep us informed. I wanted to buy the compiler on ebay.
But buying it now includes the latest update?

Hi,
I think you will find the full version on ebay will be OK as it is the software registration. It is the dongle version update that has the issue.

Bob

The replies have nothing to do with the question I asked!!!

Does anyone have access to the Windows 10 Sparkey USB drivers?

Please.... If the reply is not concerning the drivers, do not reply.

Hi Les,
This is what I have on my win 10 laptop.

Many thanks Bob

That is just what I needed.

I've just ran the same test with version 3.7.5.5 of the Proton compiler on Windows 10, with the upgrade installed, and it works as expected with Positron8, but there is an issue with Positron16 that it is not seeing the USB key, so I will re-issue the "corrected" upgrade to the good users who have purchased it, because I have now identified the issue in the source code. This is why it is always "very" important to state what microcontroller type an issue appears with because there are, mandatory, differences in the compiler's software that creates code for them, or calls other applications for a particular device family.

If using the software registered compilers, there is no issue at all. :-) Which is why I created the software registration instead of that dreadful USB key.

Again, thanks ever so much Bob. This has allowed me to get to the issue much sooner, and is why I am determined to get rid of that stupid USB key altogether with future compiler versions. The USB key I have, had broken contacts within it, so it needed repairing under the microscope.

Les,

I had uploaded the drivers I had here and also replied to what I have done, (and it helped a lot of people during the years) to successfully make the dongle being recognised.

Joe

Thanks Joe.

The problem is that it did not have a title in the thread that associated USB drivers or Dongle or USB key etc, so the search did not find it.

Hi Les,

I have the USB activated Proton Compliers and have been downloading Proton updates from your site. My question is, is there any difference between Proton Compliers and Positron Compliers, do I need to buy the Positron Compliers to get your latest versions or can I remain with the USB versions?.

top204

The current update to version 3.7.5.5, on my google site, is the last of the Proton compilers updates.

The "upgrade" that makes the compilers Positron types will still use the USB key, but they add new devices and new features and updated manuals. The compiler syntax' have not changed, and neither has their functionality.

All future "free" anomaly correcting updates to the compilers will only be for the Positron types because file names have been changed and the, underlying, passing of files between the applications has changed. Also, all future "upgrades" will be for the Positon compilers only and these will not be full compiler installs, but only the files that need upgrading, or adding for new devices etc...

If the full Positron compilers are purchased from Ebay, it will remove the need for a USB key altogether, and forever!

Hi,
Thank you for the replies.

The problem still persists. In device manager the dongle shows up under Human Interface Devices as USB Input Device. When updating the driver it states that the best driver for this device has already been installed.

My computer literacy is limited and don't know, what to try next. Could it be, that the Window Security Program is interfering?

I can't remember if the drivers are installable or not, I expect they would be as drivers usually need installing.
First check whether or not that have been installed, try looking for them listed with other programs under "programs and features" in the Control Panel, if you cannot find anything their try looking for an entry in...
C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository, not sure what it would look like but probably start with something like C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\SparkKey

If you find an entry you could try delete, reboot, re-install, reboot, if the file path to it has been corrupted that may sort it out. If you cannot find an entry for it then try installing the driver as it sound like you may be using the "search automatically" option and if the driver is not installed Windows won't be able to find it, but even then it can tend to default to using its own drivers first, probably because it is looking for the most recent version.

If that does not work, try right clicking the dongle in the Device manager and select "Update Driver", then select the "Browse my computer manually" option and select the relevant driver file you have.
If that does not work try downloading Zadig and use that to change the driver, I have found that often works when Windows is being stubborn about letting me change the driver.

Check the link in post #8.

I had problems in past installing drivers but the method I used always worked.
