It is not possible to include an Excel file as an attachment to a posting.

Is there a preferred way to address this issue?

If you zip-it? :)

If this a forum issue or an 'anti-virus' one?

I haven't tested this idea, but try changing the file name to something else, e.g. .bas or .hex

Sometime ago, I created an Excel file showing the master list of PICs supported by Positron BASIC.  The file has separate sheets for the  following:

    PIC 12 BIT CORES
    PIC 14 BIT CORES
    PIC 18F
    PIC 24 16 BIT Cores
    dsPIC33

Although THE Excel file contains no information over and above Les' master list, I found the Excel 'FIND & SELECT' feature more convenient to see if a given PIC was supported.

If you download the file, please change the file extension from .txt to .xlsx

The problem with posting such a file is that you are then beholden to keep it up to date and post updates when new devices are added, otherwise the posted files usefulness will reduce as it become out of date.

I am not sure if you are referring to a master list posted here or on Les' website, either way web browsers usually have a "find" or "search" this page option somewhere, in Google Chrome select the 3 vertical dots usually on the right side of the address bar, as you enter the device number the search textbox the listed number of matches will indicate whether or not it is supported (0 = unsupported, 1 or more means at least one variant is supported).

Maybe there is an advantage to using your spreadsheet over the web browser search function, but provided Les' posted lists are up to date I cannot see it what it would be if all someone is after is a simple supported = True/False result.

First I always select which PICs are eligible for a project on the website of Microchip

Then I check whether the PICs shown are supported by Positron on Les's site (Rosetta-tech)

Best is to simply enter the PIC name in Positron and if it is supported then it will be highlighted.

I think on Les' site not all supported devices are listed. Some, which are actually available to the user, were missing from that list a year ago when I checked.

To clarify, the only "master list" of supported PICs is posted on the Positron BASIC forum website.  And, I am quite impressed by the fact that more than 900 different PICs are supported.

Also, I was unaware of Google Chrome's search capability.  But I tried it out and it works great.  Thanks for the tip.
