The new chat bot from China is worth a look.
Although it didn't know about Positron it did know about the Proton Forum with a link to it.
Fascinating. I like the way it presents the results.
Apparently it has shaken nVidea. Big drop in share price.

I tried to get on it last night, but it was too busy.

Hopefully, it is better than chatGPT, which is truly dreadful at coding.

I have tried a few time to get the chatCPT to create some code in C and C++ for a particular task, to see the structure required, or get an idea where to start, and each time it has just written rubbish. It looks good, but it just does not work, with lots missing and variables created that will over-load etc, and some of the code I have recognised from open-source codes. So, at the moment, it is a glorified search engine with some copy and paste features! But it gets them wrong every time!

I even tried to teach it the Positron syntax, and it gets some of it right, but mainly fails, then forgets the next time it is asked to write something.

Hopefully the DeepSeek will be a bit better eventually.

Hi Les,
I agree with your observations of ChatGPT.
At this point they seem to be glorified search engines and in that they seem to work reasonably well, but not as programmers.

I am very concerned about the creation of false images/stories to influence people through (anti) social media. I believe democratic elections will be disrupted as a result. No doubt reputations destroyed too through no fault of the victims.

I'm worried too John. What happens re copyright if an AI version of, say, Ed Sheeran release a new song. It will look like, and sound like Ed Sheeran but who gets the royalties? As for AI versions of Putin, Trump etc, that could be very dangerous.

It seems that social media and AI chatbots are taking away the need for personal contact.

And this is "progress"?

Not even the current, and faulty, AI, could write and sing songs as bad as Ed Sheeran or the other '15 minutes of fame' billionares that are now classed as entertainers. :-)
