I've also seen small computer boards used to flash LEDs and display "Hello World" on an LCD etc...!

My thought on them is: "Use a sledge hammer to crack a Walnut" :-)

A total waste of resources and time, because Python is so convoluted and bloated, and actually rather slow, and sitting on a computer running a Linux operating system, for what?.

I have some Positron8 code that will read 16-bit WAV audio files from an SD card formatted as FAT32, and play them via two 8-bit HPWM channels operating as a single 16-bit DAC using two resistors, where one resistor is approx 256 times larger than the other, and the audio is excellent with a decent amplifier chip and a good speaker. And all on a single, small, PIC18F device using its internal 64MHz oscillator!

Hi Less
Do you mind to share that Positron8 code that will read 16-bit WAV audio files from an SD card formatted as FAT32 with the circuit diagram, I found this fascinating.
Cheers

Hi Less,
I've been looking for a project  like this one for a while..!

Unfortunately, it is part of a, hopefully, future commercial product I am going to try to make and sell, so I cannot give the code.

The product is my unique "storypainter" audio light. However, I do not have a commercial mind, so it is taking a lot longer than it should to sort the commercial side out. The code and circuit are all done, as is the PC application to add the colour to an audio story, but I struggle with the commercial side, as to... How to advertise it. How to promote it. How to sell it, and at what price etc...

Clever method for audio out in a simple way.  Looking forward to seeing your invention!  You know ever product I made for my company had a port on it.  When I started designing dimmers for them, I wanted to put a controller in Prince's guitar, so that he could control the stage lighting with his music. Of course that's where your experience with FFTs would have been awesome, to set the "tone" of the lighting to the key of the music.  Unfortunately, the King is dead, long live the King.  Good luck with your project!  Sounds fantastic.
Never, never, never give up

Bad news  :-[
I did a project for a customer that reads audio files off an SD card and even has an audio amplifier on the module.  Chinese module and cheap enough.
In the West we have no shortage of how to, but implementing and distribution resources are restricted.  In plain language, if you make something useful it is evaluated by the political setup and advanced or squished, and your perception of what is good or bad is totally different concepts.
Like the couple in Europe that offered a 95% cure rate for cancer who are then prosecuted by various European governments because this "good" does not suit the political agenda, which if you finger it wants everyone to have cancer by 2030 as well as famine and perpetual wars.
In the East, any one who wants to manufacture or develop something gets government funding.  That is why the non communist East is ahead of the communist West by many years, and many Westerners think the East is inferior countries with lower IQ people.  How else has China taken over the worlds production...
Here in Sick Africa I can buy a power supply module for less expensive than the regulator chip alone.
To survive in such an environment requires thinking, something most of us never do...
Nothing is as it seems, we were forced in a perceived reality that is false and destructive.
AI is no threat until it can accept truth.  But what truth.
