I generally use Digikey - they are based in the US and ship everywhere (for free if the order is >$X (A$60 in Australia)) - reasonable price too. I've also used Microchip directly with no problem (I just have them use my DHL account - life is easier if you have your own courier account)

Hi Peter,

you don't say which country you live in?

How is life easier, are all suppliers able/willing use your account?

Hey John - I live in Tasmania, Australia (Tassie is the 'little' island at the bottom - so I'm down under, down under as they say. In fact Tassie is about the same size as the island if Ireland!)

Hi Peter,

yes indeed, I've been to Tassie a few times, I was in Hobart in October time visiting friends, it was pretty windy and cold then. Even worse than Melbourne was :)

Tassie is a beautiful State. My brother lives there and has for many years.  Time I visited again.
There are quite a few of us Aussies on the forum.

Lol - yes, Tassie can be decidedly cold and miserable, especially in the North West (I'm in Wynyard). We catch the bottom of the Roaring 40's up here so it can be very windy. But I'm originally from Birmingham UK so I'm entirely used to miserable weather!

Having said that - the summer is generally very pleasant - rarely gets past 25 deg (which is still to hot for me) with bright sunny days.

Melbourne is a lovely city - but far too many people for my taste!

Re the microchips.  Very poor no matter who messed it up.  Imagine it was for an order, what do you say to the customer ?

We had a little heatwave here, pushing the 40's and even at night my office was at 34 deg.  One sweat and cannot sleep.  Thabazimbi is said to have reached 53,6 deg.  C, not F.  Thabazimbi is in the North-Western Transvaal and is well known for large Warthog.  They are
like Kudu bulls, does not belong to anyone.  The Kudu bulls jump any fence after the females and the warthog simply digs a path under the fence, which may lead to other deer escaping.  You know, the grass is always greener on the other side.  In a watermelon or corn field these Warthogs feed like baboons, take one bite and move to the next.  In a night a drove of pigs can cause quite a bit of damage.

We had better weather since, and some rain for a change too.  I sent a whatsapp message to a few friends - heavy rains here, we may rinse away, but don't worry, if you want to drop in, I will send you the pin.
