How about this image I've just adapted from a, wonderful, 1961 electronics magazine.

It shows my, general, thoughts on the internet as it is now. :-)

Dad used to have one of those soldering irons when I was a boy for his valve (tube) work, but I burned out its primary coil by keeping the button pressed for too long because I used to like to see the end glow red. LOL

I used to have a Weller soldering gun like that.
Around 1970  -  I worked for Radio Rentals. I had to go aboard a ship
in Avonmouth docks to fix the TV. I plugged in my soldering gun, pressed the button
and "BANG"   -  The ship had DC mains!
